Description: | This officially-licensed controller developed by HORI was released exclusively for use with the Game Boy Player on Nintendo Gamecube. The controller is shaped like a Super Nintendo controller and features a similar D-Pad, L button, R button, and Start button. It lacks an analog stick and C-stick that a normal Gamecube controller would have, but the D-Pad makes it well-suited for playing Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance titles. The face buttons are identical in layout and function to a normal Gamecube controller's. A Select button similar to the Super Nintendo's has been added to the layout. Despite lacking an analog stick, the controller works surprisingly well with several Gamecube titles that support D-Pad play, such as the Resident Evil series (even RE4!) and Sonic Gems Collection, among others. Attempting to use the controller with games that do not support D-Pad play--such as Super Smash Bros Melee or Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door--will result in limited functionality. |
